Finally, I renewed our Costco membership. Our last trip was prior to Connecticut's stay at home order, so I was a bit nervous about going back to the store. After 3 months of shopping conventional supermarkets at odd hours and days, finding some of the selection picked over, and often paying more for what we found, it was time to start shopping at Costco again. Also, I need to get back on track with the grocery budget and establish a schedule for shopping.
I went to Costco on June 25 and spent $150.80. Check out my grocery haul below. I included the price comparison and savings for each item. These numbers are based on the unit prices. I take the unit price of each item from the other store and multiply it by the Costco size. Then I subtract Costco's price from that amount to get the savings. I saved over $87.00 this month. That may not be the actual total because there are things, like the Ciabatta rolls, that I only buy at Costco because of the great price. We use 4 or 5 then freeze the rest for future pasta dinners. If I had to buy that much bread at a convential supermarket, I would shop for a cheaper alternatives like baguettes at Aldi. For more Costco prices, check out our latest Costco Price List here.
